Integrating Oral Health in Primary Care Settings: A Lunch & Learn Series
The lunch and learn series is based off the ECHO evidence-based model which will focus on integrating oral health care practices into primary care settings. The series will be held over a four-month period with one session a month.
Each session will take place via ZOOM from 11:30-1pm EST. You only have to register once. You will be invited to each session automatically.
Target Audience:Primary Care providers, behavioral health providers, and oral health care providers.
Continuing Education credits pending: AAFP, NASW, and PDHA.
Topic 1- April 5th: Overview of Oral Health Care.
Speaker: Kelly Braun, RDH, MSDH. Kelly serves as the Rural Primary Care and Integration Coordinator at the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health. Kelly leads the office's oral health programming which includes the integration of oral health, specifically the primary and secondary prevention of dental disease, into rural primary care practices. A Registered Dental Hygienist and a Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner, Kelly worked in a hospital-based clinical practice prior to joining the Office of Rural Health. Kelly also serves as the Executive Director of the American Board of Dental Public Health (ABDPH) and is an adjunct dental hygiene program faculty at Concorde Career College.
- Discuss the relationship between oral health and overall health.
- Explain the rationale for medical-dental integration/ collaborative practice.
- Describe collaborative practice and its impact on disease burden.
- Identify and integrate medical-dental partnerships.
Topic 2- May 3rd: Substance Use Disorder.
Speaker: Ellen Linde CRNP
This session will provide an overview on how Medication Assisted Treatment effects your oral health.
Topic 3- June 7th: Oral Health Cancer.
Speaker:Northeast Regional Cancer Institute
This session will provide an overview on Head/Neck/Throat/Oral cancers.
Topic 4- July 12th: Trauma Informed Care.
Speakers- Dr. Stephanie Gill the Associate Program Director for Regional Family Medicine Residency Program, Scott Constantini the Associate VP of Primary Care and Recovery Services Integration and Kim McGoff the Director of Dental Operations at The Wright Center.
This session includes an interprofessional integrated approach to trauma informed patient care. The team will talk about what they do at The Wright Center, lessons learned, current barriers, and what other clinicians can do to be more trauma informed.

The NEPA AHEC shares resources and information on education and training opportunities to support our customers with remote experiences develop and enhance their knowledge and skills.
