Northeast PA AHEC offers the Pennsylvania AHEC Community Oriented Rural Education (CORE) Rotation which provides immersive learning experiences for both health professional students and preceptors in our region. The CORE Rotation is designed to address the unique challenges of rural and underserved communities across Pennsylvania. For Students & Residents: This 8-week (or longer) program combines clinical practice with significant community immersion, dedicating approximately 20% of the rotation to hands-on, community-based learning. Students/Residents gain invaluable practical experience in resource-limited environments, learn from seasoned primary care clinicians, and develop critical skills in cultural competence and healthcare equity, preparing them to serve underserved populations. For Preceptors: Become a vital mentor in shaping the future of healthcare. By serving as a CORE Rotation Preceptor with Northeast PA AHEC, you share your expertise, inspire a commitment to rural health, and directly contribute to addressing workforce shortages in underserved communities.
