Ramnarine Boodoo serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in general as well as child and adolescent psychiatry. Currently, he provides outpatient care at Penn State Health’s Northeast Drive Clinic. Boodoo has a strong interest in childhood psychological trauma, and is a physician collaborator with the Penn State’s autism division.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the types of psychological trauma
Know the definition and principles of trauma informed care
Understand how trauma informed care can be of benefit in medical and social work settings
Know how to effectively integrate trauma informed care into these settings
Practice GAP: Despite the basic concept of trauma-informed care (TIC) being widely known, trauma informed approaches based on this concept remain misunderstood.
